1The first day to apply does not move because of the New Year’s Day holiday. An “Annual ABBM” or FPCA for a January or February 2026 election may be filed earlier, but no earlier than the 60th day before the date of the January or February election.
2 This deadline applies to both the Application to Vote by Mail (ABBM) and the Federal Postcard Application (FPCA). Applications must arrive before our office closes. Applications may be submitted in person, by mail, by delivery service, by fax, or by emailing a scanned copy with your original signature: ABBM to evapplications@dallascounty.org or FPCA to earlyvotingmail@dallascounty.org . If you fax or email an application, you must also mail the original paper copy to the Early Voting Clerk. The clerk must receive the original within 4 business days, or a ballot cannot be sent. (This rule does not apply to emailed FPCAs.)
3 A voter may hand-deliver their completed mail ballot to the Elections Office on Election Day while the polls are open. You must show an acceptable form of ID and must deliver your own ballot. Some ballots may still be accepted after Election Day if they meet certain special rules.
4 This deadline applies to “late domestic ballots” from voters inside the United States who used an ABBM (not an FPCA). The ballot must have a postmark or carrier receipt mark showing it was mailed by 7:00 PM on Election Day. Ballots without a postmark cannot be counted.
5 Last day to receive late ballots from non-military overseas voters using an ABBM and military or overseas voters using an FPCA, if the ballot was mailed by 7:00 PM on Election Day. Overseas voters must have a postmark or carrier mark showing the ballot was mailed on time. Military voters and eligible family members using an FPCA may mail their ballot from inside or outside the U.S., and it can still be received by this date.
6 This deadline applies to ID-related provisional voters to either show an acceptable photo ID, complete a Reasonable Impediment Declaration, sign a natural disaster or religious-objection affidavit, or qualify for a disability exemption with the county voter registrar.
VOTE IN PERSON FOR POLLING
For the March 3, 2026 Primary Election Early Voting period, voters may vote at any countywide Vote Center. On Election Day, voting will be precinct-based, requiring voters to vote at their assigned party’s polling place.
When Voting in Person whether at an Early Voting Vote Center or your assigned Party’s Polling Place, voters must be mindful of the provisions established by the Texas Election Code, ensuring a smooth and fair voting experience for all.
ID Requirements
Under Texas law, it’s crucial for voters to understand that when casting their ballots in person, they must have one of the seven acceptable forms of photo ID ready to present at the polls. These acceptable forms include the following:
Texas Driver's License
Texas Election ID Certificate
Texas Personal ID Card
Texas Handgun License
U.S. Citizenship Certificate with Photo
U.S. Military ID Card
U.S. Passport (Book or Card)
Voter Registration Certificate with Permanent Exception Status
Certified Birth Certificate (Copy or Original)
Current Utility Bill (Copy or Original)
Bank Statement (Copy or Original)
Government Check (Copy or Original)
Paycheck (Copy or Original)
Government Document
Alternatively, voters have the option to leave the polling place and return before the close of the polls on election day with an acceptable form of photo ID. If they meet all other qualifications, they can then proceed to cast a regular ballot. It’s important to note that voters must be in line by 7 PM on election day to exercise this option.
If a voter is unable to present any of the previously mentioned forms of ID or supporting documents, or if there are questions regarding their eligibility, they must be offered a provisional ballot by the Election Judge.
